A Message for Parents
If you found your way to this page, something probably caught your attention. Maybe your son doesn't turn when you call his name. Maybe your daughter stopped waving. Or maybe you can't point to one specific thing, and it's just a feeling you've been carrying around for a few weeks. I've spent two decades sitting with parents at exactly that moment, and I'll tell you what I tell them: trust it. Parents are usually the first to notice.
You also don't need a diagnosis to start helping your child. Waitlists are long and evaluations take months, and a lot of families spend that whole stretch feeling stuck. You're not stuck. The first few years are when the brain is most open to change, and the moments you already have, bath time and snacks and the ten minutes on the floor before dinner, are usually where that change happens.
That's why I wrote this book. It's the same set of strategies I use with families, written plainly enough that you can try one tonight, for attention, communication, play, meltdowns, and daily routines.
"You don't have to be perfect. You just have to be present. You are right on time."
